Stefan Lindemann is the first German man to medal at Worlds (bronze in 2004) since Norbert Schramm took the
silver in 1983. He is also the first male skater from Germany to win Junior Worlds (in 2000). Lindemann started to
skate when he was four years old. He wanted to switch to ice hockey when he was 12 years old, but his mother
stopped him. His skating idol is three time World Champion Elvis Stojko. Lindemann also admires speed skater
Gunda Niemann-Stirnemann for her competitive spirit. Lindemann switched coaches following the 2005/2006
season and moved to Berlin. He missed the 2006/07 Grand Prix series due to illness.
